Something to consider, what if all you have today is what you thanked God for yesterday? Would there be a sun, air to breathe or water to drink. The God of the universe wants believers to be in contact with Him and He wants us to start our faith journey by being grateful for what he is doing for us.

So, starting today just spend time talking with God and He will lead you to a place that gratitude is important. The Good News is that life will become more meaningful, just something to consider.

Something to consider, “don’t let what is wrong with you stop you from worshipping what is right with God!” The Bible say we have all sinned (Romans 3:23) so we are not perfect and honestly have stuff in a closet we do not want opened. Being a sinner does not mean that we are hypocrites or does not have to mean that. Yet, the evil one would like to use our sin nature to try to convince us that believers are not “good” enough for a perfect God to love us. Wrong!

It is true that God is perfect. (Matthew 5:48, Deuteronomy 32:4, Psalms 18:30 and more) Believers are not perfect, are sinners and cannot stand before God without accepting His grace offered through the death of His Son on the cross for our sins. Yet, God did offer us grace and offered His Son to give us a way to stand before Him forgiven, washed clean of our sins.

So, the evil one’s attempt to discourage our faith in God with his lies should not keep us from worshipping God. God wants us to worship Him and through our faith in His Son believers can stand before Him with our praise and worship and it will be accepted. Believers should not limit God’s love because of the evil one’s desire to wreck our faith. Neither should our self-reflection make us believe we are not worthy of His love. Jesus’s death on the cross and our belief in Him gives us that right, just something to consider.

Something to consider, integrity in God’s Word means “having a whole, undivided character where your inner beliefs, words and actions match completely.” Integrity as a Christian or anyone for that matter means being honest, having good moral ethics, being trustworthy, holding ones self-accountable for words and actions and having consistency in your daily life. Wow!

Yep, a tall order and certainly believers fail at times to achieve these lofty goals. Nevertheless, believers cannot set the bar any lower because God has commanded us in His Word to be an example and a light unto the world. The book of Proverbs has a lot to say on the subject. Proverbs 11:3 says, “the integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.” (Proverbs 28:6,12:22, 21:3, more scripture supporting the subject)

God has given humans the command to “go, therefore, and make disciples of all nation…” (Matthew 28:19-20) This is Jesus’s Great Commission for us as believers. To comply with this command believers, have to look different than the lost of the world and the key to this difference is our integrity, just something to consider.

Something to consider, Horace Greeley, was a newspaper editor, publisher who ran for president of the United States in 1872 and lost to Ulysses S Grant. He once said, “opportunity sometimes appears as hard work that is why it is so often passed by.” Sadly, today folks have a high dependence on government support and do not want to plan, work or seek the pleasure of a job well done.

In God’s economy as stated in Genesis 2:15, God put newly created humans in the garden of Eden to “toil the earth.” Solomon, King David’s son wrote in Proverbs 14:23, “all hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” In the New Testament Jesus teaches that work is valuable, but He does warn against letting labor and anxiety consume your life instead of focusing on God. Finally, the Apostle Paul writes in 2 Thessalonians 3:10, “if anyone is not willing to work, he shall not eat”, just something to consider.

Something to consider, Charles H. Spurgeon, also known as the Prince of Preachers, was a Particular Baptist preacher during the late 1800s. He was fond of saying, “the Gospel is like a caged lion, it does not need to be defended it just needs to be let loose.” A lot of lessons can be inferred by this proclamation not the least of them should be an admonishment do those who do not share the Good News of Jesus when the opportunity presents itself.

While in seminary I was required to memorize the then “in” presentation of the Gospel. It was long, complicated and erratic. Over the years the “Roman Road” became popular and there was a version you can do on the back of a napkin. Spurgeon had it right, just let it lose, allow the Holy Spirit to guide the path of the message, however presented, into the heart of the listener. Your witness style comes from your life testimony and when you allow the Holy Spirit to guide that evangelical opportunity, you can’t get it wrong, just something to consider.

Something to consider, information and knowledge is not the same thing. Information is processed, ordered or structured data that provides meaning and informs. Knowledge on the other hand is awareness, understanding information about a subject. Knowledge can be gained through experience, study or education. There are folks who have information about God’s Word but have no real knowledge of it. Being able to quote verses from the Bible is not the same as understanding the context and being able apply the knowledge to your life.

Many times, folks get a false sense of security because their information is not confirmed by the rest of the scripture that makes up the total thought being conveyed. The verse, information, maybe accurate however if it is not pared with the surrounding thoughts the meaning is lost. Knowledge comes with structured study and a willingness to grow and learn, just something to consider.

Something to consider, if information is data, (puzzle pieces) and knowledge is the use of information, (putting the puzzle together), then what is wisdom? Merriam-Webster says it is “the ability to use knowledge, experience, and good judgment to make sound choices and understand what is true and right.” I certainly agree with these learned gentlemen. however, that describes worldly wisdom how about how God sees it?

Biblical wisdom is the practical skill of living a righteous life by applying God’s truth to everyday choices. The Bible says, “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” (Proverbs 1:7) This means learning to revere God as the Author, Creator and Sustainer of the universe. James, the brother of Jesus, encourages readers to ask for wisdom, promising that God will give it generously. (James1:5) Later James describes the pure, peaceable and merciful qualities of wisdom. (3:7) Biblical widom comes only after a relationship with God is entered into, just something to consider.

Something to consider, Corrie ten Boon often asked, “is prayer your steering wheel or is it your spare tire?” Corrie ten Boom was a Dutch watch maker who help Jews escape the Nazi Holocaust during World War II. She was arrested and sent to the Ravensbruck concentration camp. After the war her famous book, The Hiding Place, recounted her spiritual journey before, during and after her experiences.

Even today this question is so essential. Throughout history God’s people get comfortable after a period of deliverance from God and feel secure enough to live life without His help. This pattern, throughout history keeps believers outside of God’s will. Corrie’s question is a chance to self-evaluate the posture we believers are in before God, just something to consider.

Something to consider, “nearly all men can stand adversity but if you want to test a man’s character give him power.” This is a quote Robert G. Ingersoll wrote as he describes the character of Abraham Lincolin. This quote is an incredible insight of human behavior. We have all seen examples of those who have been given power and control that they abused, causing turmoil in the lives of others.

God’s Word has a lot to say about those who have a need to abuse the recourses, power being one of them, God has allowed them to have. Matthew’s Gospel talks about prophets, who are to be leaders in God’s community, who are actually “false prophets”, those “wolves in sheep’s clothing.” (Matthew 7:15-20) The Old Testament prophet, Jeremiah warns leaders about being the kind of “shepherd who destroy and scatter the sheep.” (Jeremiah 23:1-2) God has a purpose for all believers so they can be part of His plan and solution. If we are obedient then believers will be blessed in their service to Him. Those who abuse the positions God has enabled them to have will find Him not tolerant at all, just something to consider.

September 21, 2026

Something to consider, there is a fundamental difference between a worldly focus and spiritual alignment. The Apostle Paul in his epistle to the Christians in Rome wrote, “the mind governed by flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.” (Romans 8:6) Wow, what a difference in perspective. The “flesh” represents human nature focused on self and worldly desires. The “Spirit” is the Holy Spirit guiding believers in obedience to God’s will.

The end results are what is important. Folks complain about life, their circumstances and the struggle to find peace. Paul is pretty clear about how to solve these issues. Allow the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and direct your daily walk and regardless of life’s situation there will be peace, just something to consider.

September 24, 2026

Something to consider, “you can’t out exercise a bad diet.” My Mom’s Hospice nurse was also a personal trainer at a local gym. I also have exercised my entire life and naturally was interested in her side job. We discussed a lot and she made that statement. She explained that folks will exercise then feel like a box of doughnuts was a great reward for all their hard work. Wong! Obviously, diet and exercise is both needed to control weight, develop strength and sculpt your physic.

The thought I considered afterward was many “Christins”, think that a weekly hour in church then gives them permission to act anyway they want throughout the week. Believers are held to a high standard of obedience to God’s will. 1 Samuel 15:17-35 talks about honoring God. Saul disobeyed God by not destroying the Amalekites, men, women, property and animals. He did destroy the folks and property but not the animals. When confronted he said he saved the animals to use as sacrifices to God. Samuels reply, down in verse 22, was obedience is more important than sacrifice. Yes, going to church, worship, praise and fellowship are important. However, this should lead to being a better witness for God in the community, just something to consider.

September 28, 2026

Something to consider, “prayer’s highest aim is not to make our needs known in heaven but to get God’s will done on earth.” Just before Jesus was arrested, betrayed and crucified He prayed what theologians call the High Priestly Prayer, found in the Gospel of John, chapter 17. This prayer shows that Jesus’s final thoughts were not for Himself but for others.

Throughout the New Testament, Jesus teaches that our prayers are to reflect the will of God and not ours. His purpose is much greater than merely taking care of our needs and wants on earth. Believers often forget not only the power of prayer but the purpose of prayer, just something to think about.

Something to consider, “there is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments, and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance-that principle is contempt prior to investigation.” (Herbert Spencer 1820-1903) Spencer was one of the greatest minds in the late 1800’s. and his views on evolution are not my favorite he did hit the concept of contempt prior to investigation right on the head. Making judgments without gathering any information, tragic but so common.

Research tells us that the average person will make a character judgment, when introduced to a person, in 7 seconds. Without any other information, 7 seconds is all that is needed to discount others. Having this knowledge, believers must always have their best foot forward so at the end of 7 seconds we still have the opportunity to share God’s love in a practical way with that divine appointment God just orchastarted, just something to consider.

Something to consider, “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” This prayer is typically called the Serinity Prayer. Some call it The Prayer of Saint Francis, however most theologians give Reinhold Niebuhr credit it for it. I first encountered this prayer as I started my journey in recovery from addiction and have grown to realize its power.

This simple statement has served as a daily guide not just for my recovery but my spiritual maturity. Serenity: finding peace in situations you have no control over. Courage: taking action on the parts of your life you do have control of. Wisdom: gaining clarity to tell apart the two apart. Easy to say but hard to do at times but well worth the effort and with practice gets easier, just something to consider.

October 8, 2026

Something to consider, we cannot change what we will not confront. My last post The Serenity Prayer was discussed. God’s Word is all about seeking to draw closer to Him by allowing ourselves to be reshaped. The writer of Psalms 139:23-24 asks God to “search his heart and to help him find any wickedness” in himself. Paul writes in First Corinthians 3:9 that we are “co-laborers with Christ”. God does not leave us to confront and change on our own. When we come to the end of our own very finite resources “His strength is perfected in our weakness”. (1 Corinthian 12:9)

Spiritual development is the path to peace and contentment in life. No matter what the present circumstances are God’s Word promises that we “can do all things through Christ who strengthens” us. (Philippians 4:13), just something to consider.

Something to consider, “let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound and all that is in it.” (Psalm 96:11) When life seems like all it can do is throw curve balls at you this verse should bring hope. I wrote a book titled When Life Shows Up, with the theme being life is tough what can you do about it. No matter how hard you try and how much planning and preparation you do so that your life will run smooth, a curve ball invariably will come your way, truth right!

This verse from the Book of Psalms, lets us know that even nature knows God will work it all out. His solution may not look like we want or come when we want it, but His plan will be accomplished. This promise from God, understood by nature has brought much peace into my life. Regardless of my current life situation, God will make it work for me, just something to consider.
